Alpha Data Joins Make UK Defence, Strengthening Its Role in the UK Defense Supply Chain
Alpha Data has become a member of Make UK Defence, the national trade association representing the UK’s defense manufacturing supply chain. The move formalises Alpha Data’s role within the UK defense industrial base and gives the Edinburgh-founded company direct access to Make UK Defence’s network of primes, policymakers, and fellow suppliers across the sector.
Founded in 1993, Alpha Data has spent more than three decades supplying high-performance, long-lifecycle FPGA hardware to defense, aerospace, and space programs. Make UK Defence membership adds a further channel through which the company can engage with Ministry of Defence programmes, connect with prime contractors, and contribute to the policy discussions shaping the UK’s defense industrial strategy.
“As the UK continues to invest in its defense industrial base, the manufacturers who can prove they’re part of the supply chain, not just adjacent to it, are the ones customers will trust. Joining Make UK Defence puts us squarely in that conversation, and it builds on more than thirty years of UK design and manufacturing.”
David Miller, Managing Director, Alpha Data
Membership reflects an industrial footprint that spans both sides of the Atlantic. Alongside its UK design and manufacturing base, Alpha Data operates a US facility that combines manufacturing capacity with ITAR-certified design capability, giving customers on both sides of the Atlantic a supply chain built around dual shore manufacturing rather than dependence on a single national base.
For defense and aerospace customers managing export control, security of supply, or program requirements, this arrangement means Alpha Data can support US based procurement through domestic manufacturing while also drawing on its UK design heritage and, now, deeper integration with the UK’s national defense supply chain through Make UK Defence.
