Alpha Data and University of Edinburgh Support Scotland’s Next-Generation of Engineers
Alpha Data is proud to have sponsored the University of Edinburgh‘s Electronics and Electrical Engineering Summer School, held from 8-11 June 2026.
The Summer School provides 19 students from 10 high schools from across the UK with hands-on exposure to electronics and electrical engineering, bridging academic study and real-world application in one of the UK’s most respected engineering programmes.
As a company founded in Edinburgh in 1993, Alpha Data has deep roots in Scottish engineering and technology. Supporting events that develop the next generation of engineering talent reflects both that heritage and Alpha Data’s long-term commitment to the talent pipeline that will shape the future of embedded computing, FPGA development, and high-reliability systems design.
David Miller, Managing Director of Alpha Data, said: “The University of Edinburgh has one of the finest engineering faculties in the UK. Supporting their Summer School is a natural extension of what we believe in as a company. We were founded here, and investing in the people who will take this industry forward matters to us.”
Alpha Data works across aerospace, defence, space, financial technology, and other critical compute markets, developing FPGA platforms built for the most demanding environments. Engaging with the talent that will one day design and build these systems is both a responsibility and a privilege.
